Integral to Systems Approach to Training (SAT), I specialise in conducting TNA techniques and delivering products that include the following:
Each client requirement is unique therefore I tailor the scope of my TNA approach according to the need. I recommend a scoping exercise as a prelude to most projects in order to understand the situation and determine the best course of action - on occasion a TNA is not required and alternate consultancy support is recommended.
The resultant TNA document set provides a rigorous audit trail that shows precisely how each learning point tracks back to the job requirement. This is extremely valuable to an organisation with a safety-critical remit and subject to regulator scrutiny.
I have experience in the development, implementation, review and improvement of competence management strategies and Competence Management Systems (CMS) for clients in safety-critical industries. Using a risk-based approach, I work with key stakeholders to ensure the resultant bespoke strategies and systems focus resources on the most high-risk, high-impact tasks to monitor and manage staff competence over time.
Many organisations see the apprenticeship levy and the rising popularity in apprenticeship programmes as key part of their internal capability development strategy. I have previously developed new apprenticeship programmes and mapped national apprenticeship standards to clients' existing training packages.
I can provide guidance to organisations where additional training content may be required so that their apprenticeship offer meets the national standard. The apprenticeship mapping service provides an audit trail similar to that of a Flagstone TNA, enabling clients and their stakeholders to clearly see where and how the apprenticeship standard links to existing or updated training.
In addition to developing apprenticeship programmes, I can support organisations in becoming ‘employer-providers’ for the in-house delivery of apprenticeship programmes. From initial application to preparing for an Ofsted inspection, I can advise and provide support that will ensure that each step of the process is successfully navigated.
Even the smallest training project can be a significant investment: organisations rightly want to assess the return on their investment. I work with organisations to develop training evaluation strategies that define expectations early in the project so that the impact, return on investment (ROI), or return on expectation (ROE) can be effectively measured.
Flagstone Training employs a range of well-known evaluation methodologies based on the 4-level Kirkpatrick model. I design and conduct training validation exercises (Kirkpatrick Level 3) to establish whether training has delivered anticipated behavioural changes. This, coupled with my programme management experience (MSP Practitioner), encourages a focus on the definition and management of training project benefits to complement the results (Kirkpatrick Level 4). Using this ‘benefits-approach’, I can help organisations capture the strategic impact of training and development interventions: that is, to evidence that the expected training outcomes have led to the anticipated organisational benefits.
I am an experienced bid writer and adept at joining established teams to push draft-status bids through to final submission. From serious editing to developing style-guides and proofreading, I am known for being eagle-eyed and transforming large scale bids with multiple authors into polished final drafts.
I can offer my services as an embedded consultant within the client organisation. This may be due to the creation of a new position that is not yet filled by a permanent employee or, indeed, a period of dedicated support may be required for the business.
Embedded consultancy brings the benefit of the client organisation maximising the value that can be added by me basing myself within your organisation. I may be tasked to work on specific deliverables, carry out a specific job role or provide advice, guidance and input to in-house projects.
